Passing cars to generate energy for new UK supermarket
A new grocery store in the UK opening today will generate energy every time a customer drives into the parking lot. Sainsbury's, located in Gloucester, is the first European store to feature "Kinetic Road Plates" - thin, flexible plates that capture energy as cars drive over them.

UK Grocery to divert 92K lbs waste per week for biomass
All of its food waste diverted to a biomass plant to be turned into electricity. The plan claims to keep 42 tonnes (over 92,000 pounds) of waste from being buried in landfills every week. Sainsbury’s is starting the initiative in its 28 Scottish stores, and aims to divert all food waste from the rest of the company’s stores by this summer.
