This is my second flat iron and I love it. My other flat iron was not good and broke easily but it was a from a different company. This one I got in a mall, the people were very nice and gave us a really good deal. This flat iron dosen't just straighten your hair it also curls your hair to give it style. My other flat iron burned your hair, this one steams it so you don't ruin your hair. You can use it when your hair is wet and it lasts days so you don't have to use it every single day. When we bought this we got a life time warranty so if I ever broke it I can get an new one mailed to me with no questions asked. It is like a professional one but for a great deal of less money. This seems like a very promising company that looks like they know what they are doing. -- Amika flat iron is amazing!!

This is my first review of a product on Amazon. I bought the Amika 1.5" Ceramic Flat Iron Hot Pink on 2/17/10, got it delivered in 2 days. I used on myself and my 2 preteen daughters and was very happy with the results. I figured I found the best flat iron there is. However, a week later the flat iron started making loud, crackling sounds, we got scared, and didn't know what it was. I contacted the seller, LA FEMME PRODUCTS, and reported the problem and was vehemently advised to try it for another week, and that if it still happened they will exchange it. I explained that I really didn't want to wait that long since their refund policy covered only 14 days, and if it didn't worked out, I didn't want to lose my money. I knew that ultimately I wanted a full refund. Since this conversation was on a Friday, I figured I will return it the following Monday, so I decided to give it another try over the weekend. But I was curious about this problem so I wrote to Amika customer service email address which came in the box and reported the problem to them and this is what they wrote back:
Hi and thank you for writing us.

We are contacting every buyer on eBay that purchase Amika and notify him about the purchase.

We have only one dealer on eBay / Amazon: SFR.
If you had purchase from him you have product warranty and it's an original Amika.
We found few sellers at eBay / Amazon that sell duplicate irons that are not safe to use .If you bought from them, and then you have no warranty. You should contact eBay.

What this clearly state is that sellers like LA FEMME sells products that are not original products and unsafe to use.

That very same night I tried using the machine again and and as soon as I turned it on it started making the same sounds and then it happened: smoke came off the part where the cord is attached! I immediately unplugged the device and never touched it again. I emailed the seller the next day asking for a full refund and sent back the package as instructed. This time it took 9 days to get their response and to get my money back.

Needless to say my daughters and I are unhappy about this experience. It was too good to be true, the item was defective. Maybe it was a bad lemon, I don't know but I would not take another chance and buy another one. I wasted 3 weeks in this incident. I think I'll just go into a regular beauty supply store and buy one of the top brands there even it's it means paying more money. Savings a few bucks sometimes it's not worth the hassle. So buyers beware!

I purchased for a family member as a gift after she was tempted to buy from mall. Around the same time, purchased another flat iron for myself that was about 12 dollars from Big Lots. In my opinion, both were almost identical in appearance, and my flat iron seemed to actually work better than Amika for a lot less. As for Amika and all the hype about how wonderful it is...it's nothing more than a scam. -- works just as well as a cheap flat iron...save your money and buy something else!

This is the second Amika flat iron I bought. My daughter was home from university & loved my first one, so I gave it to her & ordered another for myself. We have tried a few other cheaper flat irons, & even a professional one, they don't compare to this one. I highly recommend this iron to anyone~they will be 100% satisfied!!! -- Amika flat iron

as a woman ive gone through many hair products and flat irons. i must say that this is by far the best one i have ever purchased. temperature controls adjust perfectly to match your needs, heats up quickly which saves time. does you hair very well, never take another trip to the salon -- amazing
